We work with companies, governments, nonprofits and other organizations to address complex challenges facing residents in Union County. More than money, our partners contribute their ideas, volunteer power, in-kind support and more to help build up our community.
ANCHOR PARTNERS
As anchor partners, the following agencies have deep roots in our community. Anchor partners are multi-service organizations providing critical services associated with supporting families and children along the continuum of care from birth to adulthood.
• Jefferson Park Ministries (Elizabeth)
• Proceed, Inc. (Elizabeth)
• Elizabeth Coalition to House the Homeless (Elizabeth)
• The Connection for Women and Families (Summit)
• The Partnership for Maternal and Child Health of Northern NJ
UWGUC coordinates the Nurse-Family Partnership program in Union County. NFP is an evidence-based, community health home visitation program that helps transform the lives of vulnerable mothers pregnant with their first child. This program allows nurses to deliver the support first-time moms need to have a healthy pregnancy, become knowledgeable and responsible parents, and provide their babies with the best possible start in life. The relationship between mother and nurse provides the foundation for strong families and lives are forever changed - for the better.
COMMUNITY RESOURCE PARTNERS
United Way of Greater Union County partners with non-profits and government agencies throughout the county to help deliver the human services our community needs. There are 36 organizations in our Community Resource Network, each playing a vital role in connecting individuals and families of Union County, North Plainfield and South Plainfield to the support they need. Members in our Community Resource Network work to build a continuum of care – providing critical services ranging from pre-natal health classes to strengthening life skills. Our Network helps people build a stronger support system, assists them through crises and works with them to create long-term stability and self-sufficiency for their families:
